So, I've been reading a few blogs for a while now thanks to my dear friend, Sara, who is always telling me about her "friends". You see, it seems that daily she is building new friendships. Every time we talk she has a story to tell that involves a new friend. I finally asked how she was meeting all these people and she revealed these "friends" are people she has connected with from the blogs she reads. Anyone who knows Sara, would not be surprised by this. Everyone who meets Sara feels instantly welcomed by her warm smile and compassion, so of course, she is making friends through reading people's blogs and reaching out with compassion and kindness. Sara's enthusiasm about these friends pushed me to start reading a few of her friends blogs.
And now I'm hooked.
(I'm not sure what you call this but I learned to separate a sentence from the rest of the post to make it more dramatic, from these blogs I've been reading :) )
I find myself reading these blogs regularly and feeling as if I know the authors and their families personally. It's like reading the Tabloids, only about real, down to earth people with who I can identify on some level and who challenge me.
And so I am embarking on this blogging adventure for myself. I can't promise I will be as profound as those who are my inspiration, but I will try :) Truth be told, I haven't felt like I have "blog worthy" stuff in my life to share...until now. For some reason becoming a mother, has made feel blog worthy. My train of thought went something like "nobody wants to read about just Todd and I, but a kid...now that's exciting". I hope its true. I hope you will find our stories, struggles and adventures of becoming parents and life after, exciting or at least amusing.
I chose the title Elkins' Expeditions because it's perfect for two reasons; #1 I like alliteration and #2 its describes the life us Elkins are trying to live. The definition of an expedition is "A journey undertaken by a group of people with a definite objective". I love it. Todd and I are on this journey called life with the definite objective to serve and glorify our Lord, Jesus Christ in everything we do.
And we are welcoming any people who want to join our expedition...
